Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival, a member of our local team will be waiting for you at Colombo Airport with a name sign for everyone joining the Sri Lanka Intro Experience.
We will transfer you to a nearby hotel, where you can unwind, recover from jet lag, and get to know your fellow travellers on the PMGY Sri Lanka Intro Experience.
Our local coordinator will provide an orientation, covering essential information such as safety advice, useful Sinhalese phrases, and what to expect over the coming weeks. If some arrivals are later in the day, the full orientation may take place on Tuesday morning.

Kandy, Sri Lanka
Over the next two days, we will explore the cultural heart of Sri Lanka, Kandy. Our adventures will include a visit to the famous Temple of the Tooth, home to the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha, and the Bahirawa Kanda Temple, which offers stunning hilltop views over the city.
Nestled in the central highlands, Kandy is the southern tip of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle and is surrounded by lush green hills. The town’s bustling markets, traditional wood carving shops, and picturesque central lake offer a perfect blend of culture and relaxation.
On the Sri Lanka Intro Experience, you will also enjoy a traditional cultural dance show, showcasing local music and performance arts. There will be free time to explore Kandy at your own pace, shop for souvenirs, or simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere. Our local team will provide recommendations on the best things to see and do.

Dambulla, Sri Lanka
Prepare for an action-packed day as we head to a spice and herbal plantation, where you will learn how various plants are grown and used for medicinal purposes worldwide. We will then visit the Dambulla Golden Statue, home to the world’s tallest Buddha statue in the Dhyan Mudra position and part of a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning cave temples.
In the afternoon, we’ll head out on an exciting jeep safari through one of Sri Lanka’s famous national parks. Depending on the season and elephant migration patterns, the safari will take place in either Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park. These stunning parks offer the chance to observe majestic elephants roaming freely in their natural environment, along with monkeys, crocodiles, and even the occasional leopard.
After an adventurous afternoon, we’ll make our way to Sigiriya, where your evening meal awaits. You’ll then have time to relax and settle into your accommodation, ready for another exciting day ahead.

Sigiriya, Sri Lanka
We begin the day in Sigiriya, home to the legendary Lion Rock Fortress, where an authentic village experience awaits. Glide across a serene lake on a traditional boat, join local hosts for a hands-on Sri Lankan cooking class, and enjoy a freshly prepared village lunch surrounded by peaceful countryside.
The highlight of the day is the awe-inspiring Sigiriya Rock, an ancient royal palace built atop a 180-metre granite monolith. As you climb to the summit, explore the fascinating ruins, admire ancient frescoes and landscaped water gardens, and take in sweeping panoramic views that make this climb an unforgettable experience.

Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka
An early start takes us to Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s medieval capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will cycle around the vast ruins of ancient palaces, Buddhist temples, and royal complexes, including the iconic Quadrangle.
After an adventurous few days, today is a chance to recharge. Spend the morning relaxing at the hotel pool before enjoying a scenic four-hour drive back to Kandy, stopping at beautiful viewpoints along the way.

Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka
Today, we head to Nuwara Eliya, a hill country town known as Little England, thanks to its colonial-style bungalows and cool climate. You’ll visit a Sri Lankan tea factory, learning about the tea-making process before sampling some fresh Ceylon tea.
After exploring Nuwara Eliya, we continue to Ella, a picturesque hill-country village. You will have time to unwind, take in the views, and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Ella, Sri Lanka
Start the morning with a hike up Little Adam’s Peak, a gentle 45-minute trek offering breathtaking panoramic views of tea plantations and lush valleys.
Next, we visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, a marvel of colonial-era engineering set amidst dense jungle. Walk along the bridge, take in the panoramic scenery, and watch as local trains pass by.
The afternoon is yours to explore Ella town, known for its cosy cafes, boutique shops, and relaxing spa treatments.
An early morning sunrise hike to Ella Rock rewards you with unparalleled views across Sri Lanka’s hill country.
After breakfast, we visit the spectacular Ravana Falls, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous cascading waterfalls.

Mirissa, Sri Lanka

Weligama, Sri Lanka
Afterwards, we head south to Mirissa, a laid-back beach paradise where you can spend the afternoon swimming, sunbathing, or exploring the coastal town.
After an action-packed itinerary, it’s time to slow down and enjoy Mirissa’s pristine beaches.
You can surf, snorkel, try whale watching, or simply relax with a fresh coconut in hand. These two days provide the perfect opportunity to unwind before the next phase of your adventure.

Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka
We start the day by learning the traditional Sri Lankan art of stick fishing in Weligama, which is a fascinating cultural experience.
Next, we visit Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to the 16th century. Explore cobbled streets, colonial architecture, and vibrant street markets as you take in the history of this coastal fortress town.
After lunch, we drive to Ambalangoda, a small coastal town in Sri Lanka.
