09/08:
**Morning:** Start your day early to catch a breathtaking sunrise over Negombo Beach. The golden light illuminating the Indian Ocean creates a magical atmosphere perfect for photography and reflection. Take a peaceful walk along the shoreline, observing local fishermen preparing their boats and enjoying the fresh sea breeze before the town becomes busy.
Rest well as you'll need to catch a local bus to Sigiriya at dawn, which takes approximately 4.5 hours. Have an early night to ensure you're refreshed for the journey ahead.

i got from colombo to sigiriya by local bus - took like 4.5hrs and cost £1.25, gets busy but cause u get on at start of route ur basically guaranteed a seat.
i know people who got trains and taxis too just depends how u wanna do it i stayed 2 nights would probs recommend 3nights
i stayed at roy's villa - expensive but really nice and super social, they sort all activities for u which makes life easy. if u don't wanna stay there but wanna join the activities ppl do that too

dinner at a beachfront restaurant while watching the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
12/08:
Pigeon island or look for a national park nearby a bit cheaper
Could miss Trinco
Head to Nilaveli Beach, a pristine sandy stretch perfect for swimming and relaxation. The turquoise waters are ideal for snorkeling, where you can spot vibrant coral reefs and tropical fish. Consider visiting Pigeon Island nearby for additional marine exploration.
## Day 2
**Morning:** Visit the sacred Koneswaram Temple, perched dramatically on Swami Rock overlooking the coastline. This ancient Hindu temple features intricate carvings and spiritual significance, offering both cultural insight and stunning views.
**Afternoon:** Relax at China Bay or take a boat tour to explore the coastline and hidden coves. Visit local markets to sample fresh seafood and authentic Sri Lankan cuisine at traditional eateries.

i split a minibus w my friend but is possible to get a seat in a minibus w strangers for like 5000LKR (£12.50)
i stayed 4 nights - was w a group so was in a hotel but heard good things about happy hammock and finns
was pretty active when i was there cause of the season
good place to surf - i used pappys surf school and was pretty good
the most party of anywhere in sri lanka , party at different place each night if u want
elephant rock for sunset is a must do!!

stayed 2 nights at wild bee - lovely facilities but is more spenny and gets booked up stayed one night at beyond nomad luxury hostel - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND i got bitten by bed bugs and it really wasn't social at all, i'd have struggled if i hadn't met ppl already
defo worth doing both little adam peak and ella rock hikes
cute place for some souvenir shopping there's a pool club by little adam peak
matey hut cooking class was really good would recommend and was super cheap (whatsapp to book: +94 77 258 3450)
9 arches bridge at sunset is beaut, go to the green cafe on the hill for good view and a drink/something to eat
can also do tea plantation here if u skip nuwara eliya

i stayed 2 nights - wish i had longer cause the hostel vibe was so nice
stayed at wake up weligama - so cheap and fun organised activities (beach volleyball, group surfing, dog shelter, turtle sanctuary, karaoke night, ice baths), relaxed social vibe possible to do day trips to mirissa from here good place for beginner surfing
not the nicest local area but hostel made it fun
