Day 1: Drive from TIA (45 min) and check in. Explore Kruje Castle and the Skanderbeg Museum perched dramatically on the hillside. Wander the Ottoman-era Old Bazaar for handcrafted souvenirs and a traditional qofte lunch. Day 2: Early morning drive to Cape of Rodon (1 hr north), a wild rocky headland with the ruins of Skanderbeg's chapel and stunning Adriatic panoramas — nearly zero crowds in the morning. Swim in the crystal coves below the cape before heading back. Day 3: Check out and drive to Zipline Albania in Mamurras (30 min from Kruje, directly on the road toward Shkoder). Fly over the forested Mati River gorge on one of the Balkans' longest ziplines before continuing north to Shkoder — no backtracking needed.

Day 4: Arrive midday, check in to a lakeside guesthouse. Drive up to Rozafa Castle in the late afternoon and stay for golden-hour sunset views over the confluence of three rivers and the vast shimmering lake — one of Albania's most iconic panoramas. Day 5: Drive 5 km to Shiroke village on the shores of Lake Shkoder, Europe's largest lake. Rent bikes along the flat lakeside path or hire a small wooden boat to drift among the reeds and spot pelicans and herons at dusk. Day 6: Morning visit to the ancient Mes Bridge, an 18-arch Ottoman stone bridge arching over the turquoise Kiri River gorge — perfect for photography. Use the afternoon to pack and prep for the mountain drive to Theth tomorrow.

Day 7: Drive the spectacular paved mountain road from Shkoder (2 hrs, winding but sealed). Check in to a traditional stone guesthouse. Walk the short 20-minute flat trail to the iconic Kulla (Lock-in Tower), a preserved blood-feud refuge, then relax in the valley and enjoy a home-cooked dinner of lamb tave and fresh yogurt. Day 8: Gentle morning hike (45 min round trip, mostly flat) to Grunas Waterfall, a powerful 30-metre cascade hidden in beech forest — the trail is easy and very rewarding. Afternoon rest or a slow walk through the wildflower meadows of the valley. Day 9: Morning hike to the Blue Eye of Theth (Syri i Kaltër), a cold deep spring of electric-blue water welling up through the limestone — a 1.5 hr easy forest walk. Afternoon pack up and prepare for the big Komani day tomorrow.

Day 10: Drive from Theth to Koman Ferry Pier (1.5 hrs). Park the car safely in the pier parking lot and board the morning Komani Lake ferry — a jaw-dropping 2.5-hour cruise through sheer fjord-like limestone gorges. Disembark at Fierze or arrange pickup by a Shala River guesthouse boat for the final stretch into total wilderness. Day 11: Full free day at the Shala River guesthouse — completely off-grid, no roads, no traffic. Spend the entire day kayaking or swimming in the legendary crystal-clear turquoise Shala River, surrounded by towering white cliffs. This is pure Albanian wilderness at its finest. Day 12: Morning swim, then reverse the ferry journey back to Koman, retrieve the car, and drive toward Tirana with a planned overnight stop. The scenic drive south through the Mat valley is dramatic and unhurried.

Day 13: Stop for a legendary slow lunch at Mrizi i Zanave farm-to-table restaurant in Fishtë village (on the direct route south) — seasonal vegetables, house-cured meats, and local wine from their own farm. Arrive Tirana by late afternoon and check in. Day 14: Day trip to Lake Bovilla reservoir and Mount Gamti (1 hr from Tirana). Hike to the summit via the fixed iron staircase bolted into the cliff face for a staggering bird's-eye view over the turquoise lake and Skanderbeg mountain range — safe, thrilling, and utterly photogenic. Day 15: Take the Dajti Ekspres cable car up Mount Dajti for panoramic views over Tirana and the coastal plain. Spend the day at Dajti Adventure Park — zip-lines, archery, quad bikes, and forest trails with the Albanian Alps as a backdrop. Day 16: Morning visit to Bunk'Art 1, the massive Cold War nuclear bunker inside Mount Dajti converted into a compelling art and history museum with over 100 rooms of socialist-era artifacts. Afternoon stroll through the Grand Park of Tirana (Parku i Madh) lakeside for a relaxed final evening. Day 17: Leisurely breakfast, final packing, and return the rental car at Tirana International Airport (TIA) — approximately 20 minutes from the city centre.
