Pico island's main village sits at the foot of Portugal's highest mountain, Mount Pico at 2351m — a must-do hike for fit travellers. The island's UNESCO-listed vineyards produce a unique Verdelho wine worth tasting. Whale watching tours depart regularly from the harbour.
