Triglav National Park, Slovenia

Home to Mount Triglav (2,864 m), Slovenia's highest peak and a national symbol — reaching its summit is considered a rite of passage for Slovenes. The classic two-day ascent via the Kredarica mountain hut is manageable for fit hikers with proper gear. The Soča Valley nearby offers stunning turquoise river scenery and excellent trout fishing.
Bled, Slovenia

End your alpine journey at postcard-perfect Lake Bled, crowned by a medieval clifftop castle and a tiny island church. Don't leave without trying the famous Bled cream cake (kremšnita) at the Park Hotel. It's an easy 40-minute drive from the Triglav area and a wonderful way to wind down after the mountains.
