You arrive at 11 AM and head out quickly — but Basel's Old Town and the Rhine riverside are worth a quick stroll if you have time to kill before your bus. Drop your bags at a luggage locker at the bus station and grab a coffee in the Marktplatz before heading south.

The trailhead for the iconic Oeschinensee (Oeschinen Lake) hike starts right here. Take the gondola up and enjoy the stunning turquoise glacial lake surrounded by dramatic cliffs — the full loop hike is about 3–4 hours. Grab a meal at the lake-side restaurant before heading back down.
Bern, Switzerland

Switzerland's charming capital is easily explored on foot — wander the UNESCO-listed arcaded old town, visit the famous Zytglogge clock tower, and don't miss the Bear Park along the Aare river. End the day with a fondue or rösti at a cozy restaurant in the Matte neighbourhood before heading back to Basel for your Sunday night bus.
